- Denzel Dumfries and Kenny Tete are in competition for a spot at right-back for the Netherlands. Ronald Koeman’s back four otherwise picks itself.
- Georginio Wijnaldum and Frenkie de Jong are guarantees to start in midfield but the third spot is up for grabs, with Marten de Roon and Kevin Strootman among those battling for a starting berth against Belarus.
- Ryan Babel was a regular during the UEFA Nations League and will hope to keep his starting berth despite Fulham’s woes this season. Memphis Depay is expected to edge Luuk de Jong in attack.
- Steven Bergwijn and Quincy Promes are in competition for a starting spot on the right of Koeman’s front three.
- Netherlands play Germany on Sunday and Ronald Koeman may have one eye on that fixture when picking his team to face Belarus on Thursday.
- Belarus cut a number of players from their preliminary squad for the international break, including the likes of Alyaksandr Hutar, Syarhey Palitsevich and Mikhail Gordeichuk.

- Sergei Politsevich and Mikhail Sivakov rotated in at the heart of Belarus’ defence during the UEFA Nations League but the former is not in the squad this time around, allowing Sivakov to partner Aleksandr Martynovich on Friday.
- Expect a similar XI to the ones used during their UEFA Nations League campaign.
- The Netherlands are on a roll at the moment. They have played Germany twice and France once in their last three outings and gone unbeaten in those matches (W2, D1).
- Belarus went unbeaten in their UEFA Nations League campaign and didn’t concede a single goal through six matches in the competition.
- Belarus topped Group 2 in League D as a result but will struggle to lay a glove on the Netherlands on Thursday.
