- Cristiano Ronaldo missed Portugal’s entire UEFA Nations League campaign but has been recalled to the squad for Wednesday’s semi-final against Switzerland and will start here.
- Joao Felix has been immense for Benfica in 2019 and the sought after 19-year-old could make his senior debut in midweek. Felix could even start alongside Ronaldo in attack.
- Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes was the WhoScored player of the season in Liga NOS but may not get into the starting XI against Switzerland, with the likes of Ruben Neves, William Carvalho, Pizzi and Bernardo Silva capable of playing central midfield.

- Breel Embolo has withdrawn from Switzerland’s squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Nations League semi-final against Portugal. He would have been an option to start on the right hand side, which opens the door for Edimilson Fernandes.
- Nico Elvedi and Manuel Akanji are in competition for a starting berth alongside Fabian Schar in defence.
- Portugal are unbeaten in four UEFA Nations League matches (W2, D2).
- Switzerland surprisingly finished ahead of Belgium in their UEFA Nations League group after thrashing the 2018 World Cup semi-finalists 5-2 in their last game in the competition.
